Product Overview

Archive your Commodore floppies (and CMD HD partitions) to your contemporary PC, without the hassles of external parallel ports, IRQ settings, special adapters, bulky cables, or the alphabet soup of disk drive cable adapters.  ZoomFloppy replaces all X*-1541 cables with a simple USB-based hardware device guaranteed to work with today's machines using today's multitasking operating systems.  Simply plug into any free USB port, connect your CBM drive via a serial cable, and transfer data to or from your software collection.

Product Features

  • Attach any CBM serial device to your PC, including printers
  • Works with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux
  • Open Source solution, no vendor lock-in
  • Active development community
  • Minimal footprint, no external power supply needed
  • Parallel access hardware support

NOTE: ZoomFloppy requires an IEC cable (sold separately), an IEEE cable if using the IEEE version and targeting IEEE drives (sold separately), and a USB to mini-USB cable (available at many computer stores).

More information is available at: http://www.go4retro.com/products/zoomfloppy/.

Stocking Note: The non-IEEE and the IEEE version differ only in the presence or absence of the IEEE connector.  That said, they are stocked as two separate items and we are sometimes out of one or the other. If the IEEE version is out of stock, we can often solder connectors to the non-IEEE version, but the reverse is not true.  Thus, if the non-IEEE version is showing as out of stock, please consider the IEEE version or check back, as we try to keep both in stock at all times

    What a Great Product

Although it took me a couple days to get it up and running this ZoomFloppy has worked flawlessly and I was able to archive all of my C-64 disks to my PC.

    zoomfloppy

This product is amazing. I have been able to backup all of my commercial software from the late 80's with the exception of only 2 titles thus far. I would recommend this device to anyone looking to make viable copy backups of their commodore collections.

    Does the job

Posted by Unknown on 19th Feb 2018

The ZoomFloppy does its job in an admirable fashion. After a bit of initial fiddling, I have now been able to back up all of my C64 floppies - probably in the nick of time. I couldn't get it to work on a USB3-based system, but with USB2 there were no problems, even under Windows 10.

It just works...plug it to your computer's USB port, plug in your C1541, voila! Thank you so much for creating this board.

    It is a super Device:

I has no problems to inststall opencbm and to use Zoom-Floppy to Windows 7. It is a helpfull tool for a old Retro user like my. Except Windows 10. Windows 10 recognize Zoom-Floppy bat i cant install opencbm. Win 10 shows me cant found opencbm.dll. Until now i couldn´n find the mistake :) (RETRO Innovations note: With newer builds of Windows 10, Microsoft *REALLY* does not want you to install unsigned drivers, so opencbm has migrated to use Zadig to bypass the driver signing issue. See here: https://spiro.trikaliotis.net/opencbm-0.4.99.98/opencbm-8.html)

    Very good

Posted by Unknown on 26th Nov 2017

It works correctly, at first use. It is just a little strange its form factor (to find a box that fits) and the lack of a power switch. It is not comfortable to switch it on/off connecting and removing the Usb cable: a little dangerous on a long time. Anyway, a very, very good product.

    ZoomFloppy works well

Posted by Marlon Schmitt on 12th Aug 2017

The ZFloppy contains a lot of files which were easy to install on W10. I still can't get it to work, though. The LED won't light up and I can't run D64Copy. However, the USB cable and the IEC cable were easy to hook up. I might need more files for it to work on W10.
