Product Overview

Stock up on the venerable General Instruments AY-3-8910 40 pin 3 channel audio generation IC.  These units are low parts count (1 1K resistor to ground on the output stage is all that is needed for a pre-amp output) and were very commonly utilized in 70's and 80's era audio devices (sound cards).

Note: I have attempted to sources these from reputable suppliers, but I can make no guarantees about the providence of the ICs. This specific audio IC has not been manufactured for some time, which implies that any sources are at best pulls or new old stock. I am happy to process returns for non working items, but if project build time is of the essence, you might consider buying an extra as a small insurance policy.

    Classic sound

Used in arcade games, microcomputers, and sound cards - this chip is the real deal. Easily programmed from BASIC or assembly depending on how you interface it to the bus, there's a lot of sound here for the money and an easy way to get the true music and effects you remember. Color Computer fans will know this chip from the Speech/Sound Pak used for additional effects in many games. The perfect chip to populate the Philharmonic-12 sound card.
