Product Overview

For where normal Commodore IEC cables dare not tread, these Y cables solve complex Commodore peripheral cabling problems.  With these Y cables, connection options truly impossible to graph or understand are now within your grasp!

Like their simpler 2 "headed" kin, these cables are constructed with fully shielded 26AWG wiring and DIN6 connectors with over-molded covers.  They come in two awesome variants:

  • 12" (.3m) Male to Male and Female:  Used to connect an expansion port or cassette port-based peripheral to your Commodore and leave a connector open to chain more peripherals.  In a pinch, one can also use this as a Female to Male and Male splitter.
  • 12" (.3m) Male to Dual Female: The classic 'Y' cable.  Turn a single IEC jack into 2!  Amaze your friends!  Never again curse Commodore's decision to provide only 1 IEC jack on a 1525 printer!

Warning: RETRO Innovations is not responsible for messes caused by overuse of 'Y' cables.

Note: While we have a few cables remaining, we are nearly out of this type and have re-ordered.  Lead times are long.  We will try to accommodate requests, but cannot guarantee immediate supply.  Please contact us prior to purchase if you are concerned about fulfillment.

    Works with pi1541 and uIEC/SD 3.1

Posted by Mitch Parker on 17th Feb 2021

I bought this product so I could connect my pi1541, a real 1541, and my uIEC/SD. I have been able to successfully connect the uIEC and pi1541 together with no issues and successfully use my C= with both at the same time. I am very happy with this product and the prompt service.

    A must when adding a SD2IEC!

Posted by Ron Shurtz on 17th Feb 2021

This cable is just what I needed to add a SD2IEC to my Commodore 64 while maintaining a connection to my 1541 drive. Because of my layout, the User I/O cable on the SD2ICE would not reach the C64 when its serial cable was plugged into the rear of the 1541. This is a quality cable and it solves this issue!

Serial "Y" cable with printer/drive connections

Posted by Unknown on 31st Oct 2020

Ordered this cable to use with an Ultimate-II+ cartridge on my Commodore 64. I wanted to also have connectivity for additional devices as the Ultimate-II+ had no pass-thru port. This cable was the perfect solution. I can now hook up an IEC printer or VIC-1541.

    Works as advertised!

The Commodore IEC "Y" cable fit the bill perfectly. I bought a SD2IEC drive that didn't have a pass-thru IEC connector, so I need to duplicate a port to make sure everything I wanted connected could be connected to my C128. This cable works great and was exactly what I needed.

    Y cable M -> M + F

Posted by devjock on 7th Nov 2019

Exactly the cable you need if you're hooking up a 1541 Ultimate 2+ AND a printer / plotter / SD2IEC. Perfect length to keep the peripherals close-by, but not too short that you have to stack everything on top of eachother behind the breadbox.

    Solves IEC port availability issues!

    Posted by ckzbeare@gmail.com on 6th Apr 2018

This IEC Y-Cable allows me to connect my 1541 drive and my SD2IEC to my C-64, and frees a port on the 1541 to attach my Okimate printer. Now, I can have all of my peripherals attaches at the same time! Also purchased a C2N power board that allows me to provide power to my SD2IEC, but has a pass thru edge connector so I can simultaneously run my C2N Datasette at the same time...thanks, Retro Innovations!

IEC splitter, what can go wrong?

Posted by Del Scoville on 7th Feb 2018

There's really nothing that can go wrong. It's sturdy molded plastic (I think it's PVC). Please offer an 8-pin din to phono and S-Video made the same way, I will buy two!

    Keeps your uIEC close by

I used to run a cable from the end of my IEC chain back to my '64. This cable replaces that need!

    Excellent item for 1541U users

Posted by Unknown on 5th Jul 2016

This cable is perfect for users of 1541U I, II and other floppy emulators that do not have a pass-through IEC port and don't use a device that does constantly. The short length alone makes it at tidy solution.
