Product Overview

Do YOU need to grab 100mA of power from somewhere for your newest Commodore VIC-20, 64, 64C, 128,or C128D project?  Do you want to leave all of the ports available for other uses?  Before you give up in frustration, consider the C2N Power adapter!  One end plugs into the underutilized datasette port, while the other end provide a pass through for your datasette or other cassette-based peripherals.

Included on the board are holes and connections for an Atmel AVR Tiny 24/44/88 microcontroller and a voltage divider network for the MOTOR line of the datasette port (to allow that line to be fed into the AVR).  No current application exists for the uC portion of the PCB, but don't let that stop you!  Be the first to design a datasette replacement that fits in the AVR.  Or, simply use the holes to connect wires to the various lines of the datasette port for other projects.  For such a small unit, the possibilities are almost endless

Exacty what I was looking fir!

The C2N Power adapter offered by Retro Innovations allows you to power your SD2IEC, and also attach your C2N cable to the pass thru edge connector, thereby allowing you to utilize both peripherals at the same time! I was able to easily solder the SD2IEC power wire to the C2N adapter power socket on the board using a pencil type soldering Iron; just pre-tin the wire, insert it in the power socket, apply heat to both the socket and the wire until the solder liquifies, then remove heat to cool. I would rate this five stars if it included maybe a 3D printed plastic cover to clean up the look, and assist in installing it on the tape port edge connector. This would drive the cost up, but would make a great product awesome!

    Power without blocking the Datasette

I wanted to get power for my SD2IEC while still being able to use my Datasette. This was the simplest option. Solder two wires to the conveniently provided holes, and it's done. It's extremely easy to use, even a soldering novice could work with it. I only wish there was a housing available that could better brace and secure it. If one becomes available I'd gladly buy one.

I was wondering how I was gonna adapt a 1531 cassette plug(mini-din 6) to a card edge. This is going to be it I think. problem solved
