Product Overview

JiffyDOS is a Disk Operating System (DOS) enhancement which gives your C-64 or C-128 the disk access speed it has always needed. A chip-for-chip replacement for the Kernal ROM in your computer and the DOS ROM in your disk drive(s), JiffyDOS achieves levels of performance and compatibility unmatched by other disk speed-enhancement products. Outstanding speed, solid compatibility with virtually all hardware and software, and a new set of desperately-needed commands and features, gives your system a new lease on life and the power to compete with today's newer, more-expensive machines.

JiffyDOS should not be confused with Cartridges, Turbo ROMs, Burst ROMs or "Parallel" systems. Ultra-high-speed multi-line serial technology enables JiffyDOS to outperform these products without any of their inherent disadvantages. JiffyDOS leaves all ports on your computer open, works with virtually all software, speeds up PRG, SEQ, REL and USR files, and does not require any extra cabling. Owning JiffyDOS also gives you access to some of the best product support available.

    This 1541 JiffyDOS kernal ROM is a great addition to my VIC20 system. While I usually use a pair of OC-118 drives with auto-switching JiffyDOS with my C64, they don't work as well with the VIC20 while the manually switched 1541 JiffyDOS works as it was designed to with either VIC20 or C64.

    I already had JiffyDOS installed on my C64 and C128 systems, so was glad to discover that at last a version of JiffyDOS had been released for the VIC20. Installation was quick and easy. It works great, adding the same features to the VIC20 that it adds to the C64 and C128.

    A state of art chip for the beloved C64!

    My C64 couldn't be complete without the JiffyDos chip. Loading times have been divided by 6 or 7, writing cycles when copying a floppy by 3. Even when reading SD cards on a SD2IEC reader. Switching to classic C64 mode works perfect. And the built-in JiffyDos commands let you launch the reading of a software/game with nice shortcuts. Depending on the C64 model, there may be soldering work ahead, to add a socket. But you don't have to be a Professional technician to do it. Five stars! I recommend! Laurent (Strasbourg, France)
