Product Description

They are always lying around, except when you need them, and they are getting hard to find.  If you are in need of a Commodore IEC cable (the one that connects disk drives to your Commodore 8 bit machine), look no further.  These shielded, 6-conductor cables with DIN6 connectors on each end will fit and work perfectly.  Two lengths are available:

  • 12" (.3M) cable for devices like uIEC and quick runs between stacked or side-by-side floppy drives
  • 48" (1.2M) traditional cable length for longer runs.

Both cables are manufactured using the same 6 conductor shielded 26AWG cable and offer 6 pin DIN male connectors on each end with over-molded covers.  These are quality cables that rival those produced by Commodore.

  1. Good product; quibbles regarding length 4 Star Review

The 12" cables are indeed almost perfect for hooking up side-by-side drives, but are just an inch or two too short when you want the faceplates aligned but the drives are of greatly differing front-to-back depths, such as a 1581 placed next to a 1571. I think 16" (twelve of actual cable with the plugs' lengths being extra) would have been better.

The 48" cable is about 2½" longer than an original Commodore cable, which is helpful for longer runs.
